U.S. Beard & Mustache Clubs

The Natural Outlaws is a non-profit organization with members all over the world that started in the USA in the late 1990’s. Its goal has been to unite the beardsmen of the world through the love of facial hair and to show that mustaches are not hippies and beards are not loners. It’s become a huge conglomerate of men and women, hailing from all over the world. There is even a chapter in Aruba!

Founded in 1996, they were formed to fight negative stereotypes and promote acceptance. The biggest attention grabber for them is The National Beard and Moustache Championships and has become the pinnacle event for beardsmen from all over the world to meet and socialize. Their ultimate goal is to unite men in society regardless of age, race, creed, or marital status for the purpose of Beard Appreciation.

NBMCH is not just a beard club, it’s a brotherhood and family. It supports it’s own year-round events such as workshops, educational seminars, community events, activism, and charity events.

Established in 1947, they focus on the art of mustache management. No beards allowed, only mustaches. You can be a mustachian, a mustachiettess, or a mustachio.

B.O.M.B. (Brotherhood of Mustaches and Beards)

Location: USA – California

This club was established in 1992, and has thousands of members from across the world. They have a yearly convention in which they raise money for charity and have a week of celebrations (right now it will be from January 25th-January 31st)

The Kansas City Beard & Moustache Club

The Kansas City Beard & Moustache Club, or KCBMC, is one of the oldest clubs in the world, and has hosted the world championship of facial hair competitions, the World Beard & Moustache Championships, since 1990.

The club offers contests in categories such as “moustache only,” “best partial beard,” and “full beard freestyle,” in addition to the championships.

Windy City Beards

Men Windy City Beardsmen is a 200-member club that's part of the larger Windy City Beard League, which is like the minor leagues for the 500-member American Beard and Mustache Association. Bearded bikers, lumberjacks, hipsters, and old-fashioned staches are welcome. Monthly activities include "full beard dedicated yoga," where you stretch out the facial hair, and they get together to judge beard competitions, including "Dreadlocks, freestyle," and "best stache under 40."

According to their website, the Windy City club's mission, in their own words, is "to promote fellowship, the spirit of brotherhood, and service through charitable, educational and social activities and to aid in the prevention of all diseases, physical and mental, including cancer, by their own efforts and to the extent possible." It's also particularly active in raising money for cancer research. The Windy City Beardsmen have been around since May of 1995 and participate in multiple beard and stache competitions every year.

American Mustache Institute

(AMI) – United States

With a mission to “to unite all people of Mustached American descent and those who support them, in order to increase the awareness of the Mustached American lifestyle and to foster and promote the cultivation and appreciation of facial hair” The American Mustache Institute (AMI) is the largest national non-profit organization in the US dedicated to the awareness of facial hair.

They host an annual event called the “Million Mustache March” in Washington, D.C. with over 6,000 members and supporters. The Million Mustache March raises awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s mental health issues such as depression and suicide prevention.

Los Angeles Beard & Mustache Club

Austin Facial Hair Club

The Austin Facial Hair Club (AFHC) is an internationally sanctioned monthly competitive facial hair organization. AFHC began in Austin, Texas in 2006 and has since spread to many different parts of the globe.

The Austin Facial Hair Club's motto is " Facial Hair for All".

Their mission is to provide a safe and fun atmosphere for men with facial hair from around the globe to compete and socialize while promoting a positive image for all who choose to grow facial hair.

Facial hair is becoming less and less popular in today's society. With more rules and regulations every day, this is a place for men to let their hair down and enjoy.

Cincinnati Beard Barons

The Cincinnati Beard Barons, aka CBB, are an International “level sport beard and mustache club. ” However, the group is not just for urban beardsmen, but is open to both male and female members, for a nominal fee.

Meeting day and times will be posted on the club website. Members are welcome to host monthly meetings in their own home that are open to the public. CBB does not discriminate and believes everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions.

The site is updated on a monthly basis with pictures of our current “level sports” members. Some of these pictures have become part of a growing meme in the beard world, as well as the mustache world.

South Central Alaska Beard & Mustache Club

South Central Alaska Beard and Mustache Club is a club for the men of Alaska who wear beards and/or mustaches and support their right to remain well groomed. SCAMMC’s primary purpose is to provide a forum for education, camaraderie, and information regarding self-acceptance, advocacy, and entertainment.

Activities include monthly dinner meetups, Beard and Mustache Competitions, Beard and Mustache March (every first Saturday of the month), the annual Alaska Beard and Mustache Championship (marked by the Beard and Mustache Septemberfest), and keeping track of Beard and Mustache Gang activity.

Beard and mustache appreciation is their charitable cause, but SCAMMC is always eager to offer support within their realm of influence, for other community causes.

You’re a member of the New Jersey Beard & Mustache Club if you’re sporting a clean-shaven face and a beard that’s at least two-inches long and worn in a manner that projects the idea that you’re ready to rock 'n' roll” and that you don’t care if someone thinks your appearance is odd.

UK Beard & Mustache Clubs

There is no one organization that represents all of the clubs in the UK. There are clubs in different parts of the world; these organizations represent themselves, having their own individual policies, procedures and guidelines.

In the UK, there are different groups, which focus on different aspects of facial hair, like vegetarianism, cleanliness and politics.

The British Beard Club

The British Beard Club, or BBC, was formed in 1999 in response to the indifferent and hostile attitude of many companies toward facial hair worn by their male employees.

The mission of the British Beard Club is to promote beards and moustaches, and to bring other bearded communities together.

So far, they've held beard competitions, launched an annual Beard of the Year award, and created a public art project.

They've also provide an annual grant for research into cancer prevention and a lifetime achievement award to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the acceptance of beards.

The Handlebar Club

To many, handlebar mustaches epitomize the Golden Age of facial hair in the late 1800s. After almost 125 years of mustache growth, the Handlebar Club of Chicago was founded in 1993 by seven enthusiasts, and since then, the club has grown to about 50 members.

The group organizes mustache-themed social events (movie marathons, poker nights, and picnics) as well as an annual convention, which rotates to different cities around the country. The conventions also include lectures on mustache care, workshops, and mustache competitions. Competitors must register at least six months in advance, and the competition categories are Divisional, Imported, Mustaches –Out On The Town,” and Groomed. It’s not necessary to sport facial hair in order to attend the conventions or participate in events; they’re also inviting to mustachio-free women and admirers.

Toronto Facial Hair Club

What started as a trivia night in a Toronto bar has grown into an international institution. Now boasting over 100 members, the club was founded in 2009 by Matt 'The Mooseman' Greenwood, and holds meetings for its 150+ members every couple of months.

With a background in social work and counseling, Greenwood – aka The Mooseman – was initially inspired by a Portland Mustache Club. His beard and mustache club swiftly gained a cult following in one of the world's most fashionable cities.

'I really do feel like beards have a kind of rebirth going on in Toronto…There's been a huge spike in facial hair gatherings. The facial hair group started four years ago,' Greenwood told the Toronto Star.

'We were kicking around ideas for different social events and trivia night came up.

Paris Moustache Club

The Paris Moustache Club is the club of an international non-profit organization, the “International mustaches et moustaches association”. The club was created on May 27, 2014. It aims to create an association with monthly meetings between “mustaches and moustaches”, in French “barbes et moustaches”. It is a meeting for a drink, although the club likes to add a fun dimension with games and even organized outings.

The Paris Moustache Club has already achieved its goals by organizing a “March Against Drugs” in September 2014. It has organized an exhibition in “La Galerie des Arts et Voyageurs” on Rue Beaubourg. Finally, the club organizes “Sunday parties ”for mustaches and moustaches in the “Noria [un lieu privé]”. To find the Paris Moustache Club, just ask for Rue du Roi de Sicile in Paris on site.

The Irish Beard & Moustache Association

This organization was founded in 2002. Members meet twice yearly with competitions and fun events.

Members are commited to having a mustache at all times and are commited to the promotion of beards and facial hair and support the eradication of the slave-like mustache or beard.

Australian Beard & Moustache Club

The Australian Beard and Moustache Club is the only full member of the largest and oldest international men’s organization, "The Bearded Villains". The person responsible for bringing "The Bearded Villains" to Australia is Lou Rea. They have been promoting the lifestyle with over 650 chapters in 40 countries around the world. They are proud to join the global family and want to promote the lifestyle because they believe that being beard and moustache positive isn’t just about the look, it’s also about the lifestyle.

They want to ensure that the beard and moustache world is a safe space for anyone to experience, learn, and be inspired without the fear of being ridiculed for their individuality.
