First things first: What is Minoxidil?

Minoxidil is one of the most popular drugs used to treat hair loss. It reduces hair loss, delays graying, and encourages beard growth.

It’s most commonly used to treat alopecia (hair loss) and the most notable side effect of using it is the growth of facial hair.

It is sold off the shelves as an oral solution and is also available as a foam or topical solution for hair areas such as the scalp and the beard.

The catagen phase

The catagen phase, also known as the “transitional phase,” lasts between 1 and 2 weeks. During this phase the hair follicle shrinks and ceases producing new cells.

Catagen hair is generally very short (1-2 mm) and is often naturally lost. It is usually darker than the previous hair. In most men this stage is followed by the telogen phase, but in some men catagen lasts longer (for as long as four months).

Not many things have been studied for catagen hair growth, but there are two options that have shown positive results.

Minoxidil

Minoxidil is the most commonly recommended to take use to encourage the growth of catagen stage hair.

It has been shown to grow hair on the frontal areas of men who were experiencing balding.

In a study of 41 men, 41% of the participants who used a 2% solution experienced an increase in hair density after one year of use3.

Minoxidil is available in 2% and 5% solutions. The 2% solution is most commonly used; however if you experience sensitivity, it is recommended that you switch to the 5% solution.

If you are using 4 mg/day, you will need to apply at least 1-2 ml of the 5% solution to cover the affected area.

The telogen phase

The telogen phase is the longest phase of the three phases but only lasts about 45 days. Because the hairs are in this phase for so long you will usually find that your comb is very full of shed hairs. The telogen hairs are very fine and they often fall out. This is why a beard filled with hairs that all look the same is very common.

At first it is really easy to tell the difference between these shed hairs and the new ones. We have to remember though that this will change over time.

In this phase the nitrogen and other nutrient levels in the hair follicles are stable. The hair is ready to shed and when it does it will fall out. So when you comb your beard with these telogen hairs they will fall out right away.

In this phase the normal hormone levels in the body are the key. For this reason it will not matter if you use Minoxidil as a beard growth product or not.

So then if they are in this phase for so long and won’t be affected by Minoxidil there is no issue with not using Minoxidil.

The exogen phase

This is the initial phase of minoxidil beard growth in your beard area. It is when you will start to notice some positive, but very subtle results.

During this phase, you might notice some slight hair loss. But worry not, this is completely normal and something you will have to endure a little through.

What the minoxidil is doing is moving the hair follicles out of the resting phase and into the phase of active growth.

This phase lasts around 10 days.

Minoxidil and beard growth

Minoxidil is a very powerful treatment for male pattern baldness.

It works by increasing the blood flow in the scalp area. The drug has been available as a commercial treatment for baldness since the early 1960s.

Dozens of research studies have also confirmed that the drug can stimulate beard growth.

The types of Minoxidil for beard growth

Permanent and temporary beard growth are very different categories, yet similar at the same time.

These Minoxidil products can be purchased both in drugstores and over-the-counter with the large variety of brands.

Their main purpose is to stimulate hair growth, although we don’t recommend using them unless you need them to cure medical issues.

We don’t recommend using them because before buying this product, you should try different natural methods first.

If your beard still does not meet your expectations, you can proceed and purchase this product for Minoxidil for beard growth.

Rogain Topical Solution (Liquid)

Vs. Foam

In general, Rogaine foam provides more convenience than the Rogaine liquid. It is the better option for people who go to work everyday and have little time to go through all the lengthy application process. However, there are also a few disadvantages. It is less accurate to apply than the liquid foam. It leaves a white residue on your face, which needs to be rinsed off. The liquid Rogaine, however, is not so good for people who drop little amounts accidentally.

Rogaine foam is the best option for people who have a hectic life. It is more convenient to apply than the liquid Rogaine. You simply rub the foam on your face once a day. It is easy to apply and to wash off.

According to users' reviews, the liquid Rogaine can cause some irritation on the face. The Rogaine foam is better tolerated as it is a lot lighter. However, it is an alcohol-based solution and you need to make sure you avoid using it on the sensitive areas of your face, such as the eyes and the mouth.

If you are wondering which form of Rogaine is better, the foam is more popular among people.

It is a little bit more expensive than the liquid Rogaine. But if you look at it as an investment for your appearance and your confidence, it is worth the extra money.

Rogaine Topical Aerosol (Foam)

Rogaine Topical Aerosol contains 5% minoxidil, which is applied directly to the beard area for men who want extra volume in their facial hair.

To achieve great results, Rogaine is used as a twice-daily treatment. The amount applied per application depends on the length and thickness of the beard, but in general each application consists of a half-inch strip of foam per side of the face. The can has enough foam for approximately two months of twice daily use.

Spectral.BRD beard (nanoxidil) Transparent Hair Stimulating Serum 30ml. Spectral.BRD beard (nanoxidil) Transparent Hair Stimulating Serum has been developed with the aim of stimulating and strengthening hair growth in both men and women. Caffeine

Alcohol, and Drug Interactions Considerations.

Caffeine, Alcohol, and Drug Interactions.

Biotin

For Hair, Skin and Nails.

As people age, their body loses the ability to utilize biotin, which is why so many people are deficient in biotin and don’t even know it. But don’t feel bad, you always can come up with a way to increase your intake of biotin.

You need to come up with a way to get biotin in your body. Because your body is not utilizing it, your body often will eliminate extra you may ingest. Your body doesn’t crave biotin the way it craves protein or carbohydrates.

There are many ways to come up with a proper increase in your daily dose of biotin. This is the perfect way to add biotin without ingesting too much.

It may not be a bad idea to go to your doctor or local health store to get tested to make sure you need biotin.

Sometimes biotin is needed for health reasons other than your hair. Your local health store or spa can tell you that.

When you add the proper amount of biotin into your body, you will notice a difference in the health of your hair, skin and nails.

Many men notice their hair falling out at a much too young age. Hair loss can happen for a lot of reasons.

Piroctone olamine

Piroctone olamine is a synthetic quat and an antifungal agent. It is used as a corrosion inhibitor in water treatment and as an antimicrobial preservative in cosmetics. Its fungistatic properties prevent a fungus from producing spores.

Copper peptides

Before we get into how minoxidil can help grow a beard faster and thicker, let's discuss the age-old question of why is it that some people have facial hair and some don't.

Facial hair growth is primarily controlled by the levels of all three of the main hormones that control hair growth in our bodies: testosterone, dihydrotestosterone, and DHT. Some people have more of one of the hormones than others, which results in people being able to grow facial hair and others not being able to.

Testosterone and DHT both reside in the body as a conversion product of each other which means, they tend to work together to generate better overall results.

Castor oil

Castor oil is often used in a homemade solution to stimulate facial hair growth. Castor oil is a natural oil derived from the castor seed, and it’s rich in ricinoleic acid.

This is a compound that helps restore vital proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates to hair follicles. By using it to encourage facial hair growth, you can reverse the negative effects excessive shaving or self-grooming has had on your beard.

Excessive grooming obstructs hair follicle growth, and it creates a short stubble growth. This isn’t the ideal way to move out of the short stage. Instead, using castor oil for beard growth encourages and stimulates hair growth. And it can help you achieve longer and thicker beards.

And since the quality of your beard depends on its length and density, using castor oil face cream will prevent stubble and help you achieve your actual, natural potential.

Rosemary oil

Is one of the best oils for hair growth. The reason being: this oil acts as an antiseptic on the hair and scalp. Rosemary also has properties that act as stimulants to hair follicles, which eventually leads to new hair growth.

Minoxidil is a topical medication used to promote hair growth. It is the leading brand name of Rogaine, which is a topical solution that promotes hair growth in both men and women. It is used for the prevention and treatment of hair loss. You can use minoxidil for beard growth, so here is how to get it working for you.

How to Use Minoxidil for Beard Growth

Minoxidil works best when used in a daily application, leaving it to remain on the scalp for at least six hours. It is applied once a day, in a few dabbed spots on the head. Some people will leave it overnight, but if you are one who showers daily, it is best to apply it before bedtime.

To do this:

A. Wash face with a mild, gentle facial cleanser before applying. You can also use a soap-free facial cleanser.

B. Moisten a cotton ball with the minoxidil.

C. Dab the cotton ball on your hairline and in the frontal region of your head. The frontal region is where most baldness is.

Hyaluronic acid

“Hyaluronic acid is a widely occurring substance within the intercellular matrix of human cells.”

It has a major role in skin hydration, and it helps skin retain moisture. Hyaluronic acid is part of many products which claim to reduce wrinkles and signs of aging.

Hyaluronic acid works on the skin’s surface, anchoring moisture to the skin’s surface with an oily moisturizer that prolongs hydration.

A major downside to hyaluronic acid is that it is not readily absorbed through the skin, so it does not have an effect on water levels deep within the skin. It is best used as a temporary fix for dry skin.

You can find hyaluronic acid in several products, from moisturizers to serums and even sunblock.

Its main purpose is skin hydration, and it reacts quickly to moisture in the air, therefore if you are using another hydrating product, combine them in your regimen for best results.

When using hyaluronic acid it is best to apply it in the morning to keep the moisture level high throughout the day.

How to apply liquid Minoxidil to your beard in 5 easy steps (A simple, illustrated guide)

Step 1: Preparation

The first thing you'll want to do is make sure you have everything you need to apply your Minoxidil to your beard. The best results are achieved by applying it to clean, dry skin, so make sure you avoid the temptation to apply it shortly after showering or washing your face.

Cut off the tip of the dropper or use the dropper from the measuring cup.

Have a clean dropper or a cotton ball handy.

Prepare a clean, dry area of your counter top before you begin.

Prepare a towel around your sink or somewhere nearby so you can rest the bottle down afterward without it getting anything wet.

Step 2: Applying Minoxidil to your beard

Dampen your finger tips with a little water so that they are nice and moist. Don't completely soak them, just make sure they're good and moist.

Extend your fingers, away from your beard and shake your hand vigorously for about 10 seconds so the tips of your fingers are totally moist.

Then, holding your dropper in your right hand, apply the Minoxidil to your face by pointing the dropper at your beard and slowly squeezing the contents into the beard as needed. This will keep your fingers free from excessive liquid so that you can precisely target portions of your beard.

Wash your face thoroughly

With warm water. You should wipe your face with a clean cloth. Clean your face thoroughly to remove any excess debris before application. This will help reduce irritation and your chances of developing side effects.

Measure the amount of Minoxidil

To best use Minoxidil for beard growth, it is important to measure the amount you use. Many different factors can affect how much of the serum you apply to your face. Some factors are how much hair you have, the strength of your hair, and even water temperature. This is because both thinning hair and facial hair respond differently to the serum.

The best way to use Minoxidil is consistent and accurate dosages. Start by using one dropper full of the solution. You will want to put this in between your hair and not on your skin. Apply it as if you were shampooing your head. Now you want to thoroughly massage this into your hair and make sure it soaks in. Next, you want to make sure that all your hair is soaked. Massage the solution into the base of the hair. This is the most important part of using Minoxidil for beard growth. Now you are going to wash it out and repeat the process.

Applying the liquid

You can use a dropper to drip some of the liquid onto your fingers. Then rub the drops onto your beard or the affected areas.

To improve the absorption of the liquid, try massaging it in a bit and breath a few times. You’ll be surprised at just how quickly and readily your body will absorb the minoxidil.

If you are using a lot of the product, then you may want to use a syringe to apply it. Just apply a few drops, and then rub it into your beard.

If you want to use a lot of minoxidil, then it may be better to squeeze a few drops onto your palm and then rub it into your beard with your hands.

Rub it in

When you first open the minoxidil bottle, the first thing you will notice in your hand is the foam. It looks just like shaving cream, so what do you do?

Well the potiential silver lining here is that you can rub the foam into your beard. Again, bathing your beard in minoxidil will increase absorption and therefore effectiveness.

Wash your hands

If you plan to apply minoxidil to your beard, you need to be extra careful not to infect your face with any other bacteria or transmittable diseases. This is why you must always wash your hands thoroughly before applying the solution, and especially before touching your beard.

How to apply foam minoxidil in 5 easy steps (A simple, illustrated guide)

Shave the area to be treated with a razor that will provide an incredibly close shave, so as to minimize regrowth. This means no razors with multiple blades or sharp angles. (Like a Gillette Fusion with it’s razor-spaced triple blades).

A straighter edge is always better. (I prefer a classic razor)

{1}. Wash your face free of all beard oils and residue.
{2}. Foam minoxidil should be applied in very thin layers, less than a quarter-inch thick.
{3}. Blot any excess foam with tissue or a washcloth to help guide the absorption into your skin.
{4}. Wait approximately one hour before applying any more minoxidil or shaving.

Wash your face thoroughly

With warm water. You should wipe your face with a clean cloth. Clean your face thoroughly to remove any excess debris before application. This will help reduce irritation and your chances of developing side effects.

Rinse your fingers with cold water

To avoid any excess product, you need first to wash your face with cold water to close the pores. Cold water can also help you to lift up the hair follicles for better penetration.

Put the appropriate amount of Minoxidil (for beard growth) on the finger and rub it gently all on your face.

Wait for a few minutes until the Minoxidil is absorbed by the skin.

Apply it twice a day if possible and let everything dry before you leave the house.

Even small bathrooms can provide you with what you need to massage the product on your face.

The cold water can help you to avoid getting any excess product on the neck or other parts of the body. This is the most important thing you should know about Minoxidil (for beard growth).

Alternative way, you can use a dropper and carefully put Minoxidil on the finger.

Rub the dropper-full of product in the hands and then rub the Minoxidil on your face, again avoiding the sensitive parts of your skin.

Now you must be wondering how often should you apply Minoxidil on your face.

You must apply Minoxidil daily so that the beard can grow continuously.

In order to get the best results, you need to continue the use of Minoxidil a minimum of three months.

Dispense the foam into your hands by tipping the can upside down

Over your hands. Dispense a small amount of foam into the palm of one hand and then rub your hands together until the foam warms up between your hands.

This will prevent the foam from feeling too cold when you apply it to your face. Next, use your thumbs to apply the foam to your face in small movements, spreading the foam all over your face.

Each time you apply to your face, massage your face in circular motions with your fingers, first going in one direction and then changing direction after a few minutes.

Use your other hand

To scratch the affected area and produce tiny red bumps or rash.

These little red bumps are actually the damaged hair root.

When you rub these bumps, little bits of root come out, since the hair root is very close to the surface of the skin.

These bits of hair root irritate the skin and make it a little inflamed.

The reason why we do not get bumps when we shave is because shaving does not remove the hair root.

It only breaks the hair shaft.

So when you shave, there is no part of the hair root that is left under the skin and hence no irritation.

The irritation caused by minoxidil is the reason it can work for beard stimulation.

Wash your hands so that none of the solutions remains.

You should also use a freshly washed towel to dry your face. This will prevent spills and/or contamination between the solutions.

Some other thoughts about applying Minoxidil

Minoxidil comes in two forms for beard growth: liquid and foam. The foam form is best if you want to apply the product to your entire beard rather than individual hairs.

You can either apply Minoxidil to your beard after you wash your face in the morning or after you shave at night.

Applying it to your skin straight after washing or shaving will be more effective, as it allows the product to absorb better. The same is true for hot shower, as it opens your pores more and allows for better absorption. You can also apply the solution at night, right before you go to bed, and wash it off in the morning.

One way or another, you should definitely try to apply it twice a day. It’s been proven that it takes at least 48 hours before you can see any results.

Also, even though this product has been available for more than 30 years now, it’s still not widely used by most men.

It’s not easy to grow a beard, but if you apply Minoxidil every day, you have a number of benefits from it. First of all, it will give you softer and healthier hair. Also, it will make your beard darker and thicker.

Minoxidil side effects: What to know

Minoxidil is one of the most commonly used medications for treating hair loss. Many different kinds of hair growth products contain Minoxidil for beards and many men find good results by using it.

While it may seem like Minoxidil would be safe to use on your beard because it is also applied to your scalp, there are some important side effects you need to be aware of before trying it on your facial hair.

What to Know about Minoxidil

Minoxidil is a medication that works by promoting blood flow to the scalp. It has been a commonly prescribed drug for people who develop high blood pressure in their scalp, just above the temples.

When used as a treatment for hair loss, it is applied directly to the scalp. However, it can be absorbed into the blood stream.

Once absorbed, it is converted to a chemical known as minoxidil sulfate. This is the chemical that causes side effects in the body since almost all of it is converted into minoxidil sulfate.

Learn More about Minoxidil

Minoxidil was originally created as a drug to lower high blood pressure in the scalp.

Later, it was discovered that it could also promote hair growth on the scalp.

Dry skin

As a general rule, beards are very dry compared to the rest of your face because they are facing the elements.

They need extra TLC in the form of a good beard oil or balm.

As much as possible, avoid soap and harsh products on your beard because they will strip it of the natural oils that it needs to stay healthy, shiny, and moisturized.

Don’t just use any kind of beard oil. Instead, pick one that’s designed specifically for your skin and beard type.

Medium or thick-bearded men should look for a substantial beard oil, while longer beards need some serious care, so get a high-quality balm.

Go for the best value for money!

If you’ve been on the lookout for a beard growth solution for a while, then you may have come across some aggressive marketing tactics or read tons of false claims about various products promising to give you a full and dense beard.

This is one of the reasons why men who are trying to grow their beards are hesitant to buy beard enhancement products.

With so many products on the market, it’s impossible to assess each and every one of them.

This article is about WELLGROW beard growth formula.

Shedding

Some hair loss, even in the early stages of applying Minoxidil for beard growth, can happen. The hair will come back. It is a normal process that all men go through, called shedding. Shedding will usually show itself at the beginning of Beard Growth. When testosterone levels rise, this process happens.

It is important to know that you are not alone, this is a normal process. As well, it is also important to know that this shedding should not cause you to worry. Shedding usually happens for up to three weeks before you start to see a beard grow.

We are all different, and so is our own hair growth process, so it may take longer than that for your hair to get back to normal. Steady and consistent is the key to a healthy beard.

Lower blood pressure

A common side effect of minoxidil is lowered blood pressure. It is possible that some people may develop symptoms of hypotension and therefore patients using this product are advised to monitor their blood pressure.

This side effect is not a big deal for most people. However, it should be taken very seriously if the blood pressure is already a problem. In those situations it is best to consult a doctor before using minoxidil.

Weight gain

Studies show that 95% of men who start taking Minoxidil for mustaches and beards are plagued by the side effect of weight gain.

Normally, when you start using Minoxidil for beard growth, hair grows quickly, thick, and dark. But this can be quite unpleasant with your body adjusting to the sudden growth.

Another reason this happens is by forming new capillaries and arteries in your hair follicles to support hair growth.

These growing blood vessels dilate to allow for better circulation and in order to accommodate this, your heart needs to pump harder, faster, and stronger. The same result happens when your resting heart rate drops.

Another side effect of Minoxidil is lower blood pressure.

This will allow your heart to relax. After a whole week of moderation, you will notice the days when you take Minoxidil. It will lower your blood pressure, which can cause you to feel dizzy and lightheaded. Your heart will have to compensate for that by contracting harder and faster.

As mentioned before, your heart will get stronger in order to pump your blood and deliver better circulation to the scalp.

Your heartbeat will be stronger and more accelerated, leading to an uncomfortable heart rate increase.

It is recommended to lower your dosage from 2% to 1%. This way, you avoid abrupt changes in your heart rate and blood pressure.

Acne

The Leading Cause of Unattractive and Unhealthy Beard

Acne is the leading cause of unattractive and unhealthy beard growth, and is caused by a clogging of the pores caused by excess oils and dead skin cells.

Acne affects not just the skin on your face, but your nose, back, shoulders and neck as well. It can also lead to premature wrinkling, scarring, and skin damage.

Acne is often called an adult acne because people only begin to get the condition as they mature. Many do not attribute acne as a cause to beards not growing.

However, it is so because of the hormones that are associated with both acne and facial hair.

Important Hormones and Chemicals Involved in the Beard Growth Process

As men mature, specifically when they reach puberty, they start to produce certain varieties of androgens specific to adulthood.

These are the male sex hormones that encourage masculine characteristics such as beard growth, muscle growth and deepened voices.

DHT Conversion to Testosterone

These hormones are converted to dihydrotestosterone, or DHT for short.

Fatigue

In the beginning of the treatment (the first 3-6 months), you may feel fatigue in the follicle area. It is usually more pronounced in the evening and the cause may be overgrowth of hair through the skin.

In the case of facial hair, this means light pain, which should disappear after taking a break from the treatment. A typical scenario is that a man continues to grow hair on his face although the body is done, simply because he want to achieve a full beard. This is why the day after a beard was grown, the skin gets itchy and red. The reason for this is that the body is not used to the density of hairs on the skin.

You can apply moisturizing cream on a daily basis to lessen the stress. You can also reduce the dosage to twice a day, and then wait for the body to adapt. In case of skin irritation, by taking a break from the treatment for a few days.

Dizziness or light-headedness

One of the most common side-effects of minoxidil when used for beard growth is a feeling of light-headedness, that is also known as dizziness. As a result, it is not recommended to use this product if the person is already suffering from some sort of cardiovascular problem.

Dark circles under the eyes

While the causes of dark circles under the eyes are numerous, your genetics do play a part in the likelihood that you’ll develop them. If you’ve noticed that you have more than a few of them, however, you might want to try some proven natural remedies to get rid of them.

Caffeine

Many people who drink caffeinated beverages have lots of dark circles under their eyes, but not everyone who drinks coffee or tea has them. If you drink caffeine and don’t see any difference in the number of circles, you may try to limit yourself to one caffeinated beverage every three days instead.

Bromelain

For many people, dark circles under the eyes are related to puffiness of the eyelids. The mild enzyme bromelain can help to reduce this puffiness so dark circles may become less noticeable or even change color. You can take bromelain supplements or you can try to eat more pineapple and other foods that contain this enzyme.

Heart palpitations

One of the more common health concerns that I get asked about is getting heart palpitations before the appointment with a doctor. If you are worried about your heart beating too fast or too hard, you are not alone. More and more individuals are wondering if their heart is racing because of heart problems.

If you feel that your heart is beating too fast or you notice any racing while you are at rest or asleep, this may be a sign that you have a condition known as A-fib or Afib. This is an abnormal heart rhythm that could possibly lead to a heart attack or stroke. It is important to see your family doctor and get it checked out as soon as possible so you can start your treatment as soon as possible!

Heart palpitations can be caused by stress, exercise, caffeine, smoking, and drinking alcohol. Just about anything that can put on the heart, can also cause heart palpitations. The more stressful the event, the more it is possible that you will feel this altered heartbeat. As a matter of fact, the most common reason is as a result of the patient being nervous about the visit.

There is not really anything wrong with the heart in most of the cases, so don’t worry about it beating hard during other times.

Minoxidil 2% vs. 5% vs. 10%

Maybe you have read somewhere that lower Minoxidil concentrations (like 2% or 5%) are better than the higher ones (such as the 10%).

But, why would it be that way?

This is because with a 2% solution, you can cover a larger area than with 5% or 10% of Minoxidil.

So, if you are looking to cover a lot of ground, then get the 2% version, but if you need to use Minoxidil sparingly, then a stronger formula is better for you.

In fact, if you used the 10% Minoxidil you can cover almost three times as much area than you could with the 2% version.

But, keep in mind that using a high amount of Minoxidil is more likely to cause side effects.

Minoxidil can cause a lot of side effects, including dry skin, itchiness and irritation.

Don’t be discouraged, though.

A lot of users get effective results from just using 2% Minoxidil foam, and they don’t have to worry about the negative side effects.

Some users even apply minoxidil two times a day, which is still considered to be a low concentration.

The most important thing is that you use it consistently.

Can you improve the results of Minoxidil in other ways?

Having a thicker and darker beard is something that many men desire. Throughout the years, there have been a lot of products that have been advertised as the best beard enhancement solution. Unfortunately, only a few of them were proven to be capable of producing the expected results.

Luckily, there is one product that meets the criteria for beard growth. This product is called Minoxidil (Rogaine). The results of using this product for beard growth can be easily improved, if you follow some basic rules.

The first important tip is to make sure you use the spray as instructed. While using Minoxidil is a relatively simple process it can be improved by using the spray at least three times per day on your beard. If you are using other beard growth products, make sure to wear a mask.

If you want to support and optimize your beard growth, drinking enough water on a daily basis is the best idea. In order to give the hairs that grow in your beard the required strength, you need to drink between two and three liters of pure water. Swishing the water in your mouth will improve the cleansing and stimulate the flow of saliva.

Another important tip is to attack any possible beard dandruff with a combination of Minoxidil and Beer. You will have to cover your face with this mix and leave it on for five minutes. This can be done twice a day, so a total of 10 minutes per day.

Other minoxidil brands you can use for beard growth

You can use Rogaine and Kirkland for beard growth. These are usually available in stores like Walmart. Minoxidil is a medication for hair loss and there are many brands that carry it. If you have access to a pharmacy, you can find them there. You can also find multiple brands on the internet.

Kirkland Signature Minoxidil

This is a hair regrowth formula designed to promised faster hair growth after using this Minoxidil-containing product for 90 days. Kirkland Minoxidil for Men contains 5% Minoxidil, a vasodilator that assists with blood circulation in the hair and scalp.

Essengen-5 No PG Fast Dry Minoxidil

For sprouting up your beard with a growth booster, the bestselling Fixing Beards Beard Growth Pack contains one 1.8ml bottle of the Essengen-5 No PG formula, which ensures the best non-greasy solution for you to apply. It blends the most popular growth enhancing ingredient, which is minoxidil, into a special base that is easily absorbed into the skin. The Fixing Beards formula does not include propylene glycol, making it a non-irritant formula.

What does it do?

The formula effectively stimulates hair growth by increasing hair follicle size and strength. The formula is perfect for anyone wanting to start growing a beard or who has thin patches in their beard.

Tugain

Minoxidil is an FDA-approved drug to stop hair loss and stimulate hair growth. It is a vasodilator which means that it widens the blood vessels in the scalp, which leads to increased hair growth. It works for 90% of the men who use it, and that’s the reason why it is considered one of the best options for stopping hair loss.

Since hair loss and beard growth are two separate processes, Minoxidil does not affect beard growth by itself, but there is one ingredient that increases hair growth in general – Tugain.

Equate

Equate hair Regrowth Treatment for Men is completely compatible with other minoxidils, having no reported major side effects. Users do not find that it has a strong odor.

Maintaining your beard

Minoxidil is a drug used as a vasodilator to treat high blood pressure. It is also available over-the-counter in some countries for growing hair and as a topical cream for facial hair growth.

Men who want to improve their facial hair growth use minoxidil topically by applying it regularly in the amount of 2% or 5%. The products are available in various forms like foam, lotion, and solution, and one can buy them online or offline.

Most users agree that minoxidil works well to enhance facial hair growth, particularly if used continuously and over a long period of time. The results may take time, sometimes more than a month.

To get the best results, you should follow the hygiene and maintenance aspects like washing twice or thrice daily and use a beard oil or balm.

One should also trim the beard after a week of applying the minoxidil.

This helps remove any dry skin or dandruff that might have formed due to the treatment.

To get the best practice for your facial hair, do a bit of research to confirm the right usage and dosage. For those using minoxidil for the first time, you should start with a small dose and then increase the amount gradually. This helps prevent any unwanted side effects.

Beard wash & shampoo

A beard wash with minoxidil is an important product to have in your routine and can achieve better results than beard wash. They contain a small amount of minoxidil with no spiky chemical which make it ideal for tinted beard.

Beard wash with minoxidil keep your beard free of dead skin, dirt, blackheads and ingrown hairs.

Beard wash with minoxidil is made with both natural and chemical components. The natural components will help to soften your beard and give it a healthier, shinier look while the chemical components provide a little extra something that will make your beard grow healthier.

You should use beard wash with minoxidil once a day. Do not use it any more often than that or you risk drying out your beard and causing damage.

You should also avoid using an exfoliating scrub while you’re using a beard wash with minoxidil. Despite drying out your beard, beard wash is usually gentle enough for daily use without scrubbing.

Beard oil

Is not the only product you can apply on your hair, if you want faster and stronger beard growth. You can use minoxidil, which has been approved by the FDA for helping male pattern hair growth in the problem areas for a few years. The product is commonly used for treating hair loss due to genetics, but some people use it for beard growth instead of beard oil or beard balm.

According to the information provided by the manufacturer of the minoxidil, it is a “topical medication” (you apply it for your scalp through the hair) for the treatment of pattern hair loss in men. Another way to describe it, is an antiandrogen drug.

It is used to treat a male pattern hair loss condition. The mechanism behind how it works is the inhibition of 5-alpha reductase, which is an enzyme that converts androgens into a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This hormone is responsible for the reduction of hair follicles and shrinking of the hair follicles. By inhibiting the 5-alpha reductase enzyme, minoxidil delays the reduction of the hair follicles and improves the survival of the hair follicles.

Diet

Look at your diet change first to see if minor modifications can increase your growth rate. Eggs, specifically, are high in choline which can improve your beard growth. Also you should take vitamins and eat a lot of foods that are rich in omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3 fatty acids are also found in fish oils.

Introducing a high quality and well-absorbed product that contains essential vitamins and minerals into the system will promote faster beard growth.

Exercise

Getting rid of belly fat is a huge priority for a ton of guys. In fact, if you look around, you’ll notice that most guys’ washboard stomachs are only seen on the beach when they’re getting their tops off.

Take a quick poll and ask men the one area they’d want to strengthen in the gym, and it’s likely that most will answer lower back and abs.

It’s not a bad choice, mind you, but it’s still not the best. Granted, there are many exercises that you can use to strengthen the back and abs, but we instead suggest three exercises that will help build both of these muscle groups, reduce body fat, and help do it in less than twenty minutes.

Reduce stress

Studies have shown that stress decreases hair growth. This is why it is very important to pamper yourself with some time for relaxation. These are just some tips you can use to help minimize stress in your life since stress has a negative effect on hair.

Meditation- meditating regularly will help you cope better with stress. Although it will not eliminate all stress, it is a known fact that meditation has many health benefits.

Regular exercise- studies have shown that regular exercise increases testosterone which in turn is known to improve hair growth.

Sex- having frequent sex will lower your stress level.

Sleep better- although it is known sleep deprivation will cause hair loss, when you get more than enough sleep, it will have a positive effect on your hair growth.

Relax more- calming activities will help you relax and minimize stress.

Rest

All stimulants, including Minoxidil, can lead to dehydration if applied too frequently. If you are using Minoxidil for beard growth, it is very important that you allow it several hours to completely absorb and rest your face between shaves.

To best benefit from Minoxidil for beard growth, minimize the effects of the stimulants by resting your face between shaves. Continue doing so until you get the results you want.

Minoxidil does NOT alter with age. Some people find that they lose some hair and start to thin on top. Still others continue to grow a full head of hair even up in their 70s.

It's no wonder that you need to take Minoxidil for beard growth slowly, seek expert advice, and rest your face – the faster you go, the stronger your new hair growth might be.

Trimming your beard while using Minoxidil

For beard growth.

The best thing you can do to improve your results while using Minoxidil for beard growth is to trim your beard as often as possible.

This is based on the amount of length you want to gain. If you want a long beard, trim it often.

Short beards do not need to be trimmed because they already look good.

By trimming your beard, you improve the growth of shorter hairs, so the beard appears more full. It makes the overall result much more pleasing.

This is also the most important when using Minoxidil for beard growth, as any small improvement can help.

You want to aim for a trim that is one or two inches wide and is about an inch long. This will give you the most impact for the amount of effort that you put in.

If your beard is not all that long but has just lost the shape, you can also get a consistent trim to bring it back into shape. This will make you feel much more confident, even if you trim it quite late into the process.

In addition to this, you can also use the beard growth products that will be discussed later in this article.

However, make sure you stick to Minoxidil. You will need to test one or two ancillary products to see what is actually working for you. You might be surprised.

Rogaine beard before and after

Minoxidil is a category of drug that is used to stimulate the hair follicles on your facial hair. Minoxidil causes more and more hair follicles to retain hair, not just coax hair that was already there to grow. One major problem with using Rogaine for beards is the potential for side effects like facial hair growth on other parts of the body. It may not happen, but it can happen.

Rogaine contains the drug Minoxidil, which is a vasodilator, meaning it creates pulsations in blood vessels. It is especially effective in opening blood vessels in the scalp to create a better flow of blood to the hair follicles, and that ends up creating hair.

Rogaine comes in an over-the-counter 2% formula, which many people advise should only be used in amounts of no more than 10%. So if your beard is less than two inches long, you should consider using only 3% or lower.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Minoxidil is the one of the most popular hair growth products around. It is used for treating hair loss in men and women. This article will discuss minoxidil specifically for beard growth and answer some of the most frequently asked questions.

Q. What is responsible for stimulating beard growth?

A. Testosterone is responsible for the development of facial hair. When the body is unable to make sufficient amounts of testosterone, beard growth is slowed and hair loss occurs. Minoxidil increases blood flow to the hair follicles by opening blood vessels. This allows more oxygen and nutrients to reach the follicles making them stronger and healthier. The increased blood supply also allows for the cells at the base of each follicle to produce more DNA. Increased DNA is one of the main factors in increasing the size of the hair follicle. This, in turn, increases the amount of hair that can grow from the follicle. The hairs being produced from the follicles are also thicker, and stronger because of the increased blood supply. Minoxidil also acts directly on the cells of the hair follicle to stimulate their production of enzymes called type 11 beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase. These enzymes are what actually convert testosterone to dihydrotestosterone, a more potent form of testosterone. When these enzymes are blocked, testosterone becomes difficult to convert to DHT. However, minoxidil stimulates the production of these enzymes, and improves this conversion.

How do you apply Minoxidil to your beard?

Minoxidil is applied using a dropper bottle directly onto the skin and hair. Use a clean dropper bottle to apply the solution to your skin, then rub into the beard area.

Within a month of daily application, you'll likely start to notice some new hair growth. During this period, don't be surprised if the hair growth seems a bit prickly or coarsley formed during the initial phase of development.

If you're experiencing hair growth, but it is prickly or patchy, you may need to revisit your application technique. You might be applying too much, or you might not be getting the application deep enough into the follicles.

Be aware that the hair growth period might be somewhat uncomfortable, and can potentially lead to itchiness or irritation of the skin. This is normal. Also be aware your skin might tingle or feel prickly during the early phases of hair growth. This is part of the hair follicle revitalization process and will subside as your beard matures.

Expect the full hair growth cycle to last 6 to 8 months. During this time, you'll need to keep up a regular application schedule. Any change that interrupts your hair growth cycle could lead to the hair falling out on its own. Fully discontinuing use of Minoxidil can lead to a return of hair loss.

How long does Minoxidil take to work?

Minoxidil typically takes a period of about 6 to 10 weeks to see an improvement in your beard growth. You cannot expect to apply the oil and all of a sudden have a thick, well-groomed beard.

Be patient and do not throw in the towel after a few weeks. It may be tempting to leave the beard alone and grow it out as quickly as possible, but a few weeks of growth may not actually be a lot.

Minoxidil takes time. That being said, you will start to see minoxidil for beard growth actually take effect after a few weeks. Older men may need more time to see results, but younger men may see results within the first couple of weeks.

What happens if you stop using Minoxidil on your beard?

You know what they say "if you love something, you should set it free", in case of minoxidil, this sentence would be "if you love your beard, you should stop using minoxidil".

As the early learning suggests, minoxidil should not be used for a longer period of time. It's as simple as it can be.

When you stop using minoxidil, testosterone productions will start again, and you will gradually stop growing beard. So every time you stop using minoxidil, it will be harder to grow a beard in the future, and probably you won't be able to grow a beard again.

Don't worry about it if you are not an avid beard lover, although everything changes, even minoxidil. But if you care about your beard, you should care about shaved face as well.

A lot of people stop using minoxidil to have to ability to control their facial hairs but the truth is that once you leave minoxidil, you will definitely lose the hairs that you were trying to grow on your face.

How long do you leave Minoxidil on the beard?

The longer you leave the minoxidil on the beard, the more it will stimulate the hair follicles in your face, so leaving it on for a couple of hours is very good.

You can leave it on a little longer and if you choose to do this, just be careful you don’t sleep in it.

After the minoxidil is applied, keep the beard at the normal level of growth. If you let it grow it will just look like a big beard in your face so you don’t even have to do that if you don’t want to.

If it will be longer than an hour or so before you are even going to have access to water to wash the minoxidil off in the first place, you might consider just using the foam applicator as described above. The foam is much easier to use, and with the foam, you don’t have a big problem with the minoxidil.

Where to buy Minoxidil for a beard?

Minoxidil is a prescription-strength topical medication, used to stimulate hair growth. Minoxidil is the main ingredient used in virtually all hair growth product. The other 2 main ingredients in common hair growth products are Niacinamide and Pyrithione Zinc. Minoxidil is also known as Rogaine.

Here is a link to our top beard growth treatment recommendations. These are the only scientific studies we can find that suggest minoxidil is effective at treating hair loss.

How fast is Minoxidil absorbed into the beard?

Minoxidil (usually sold as Rogaine) is FDA-approved for use in hair growth on the scalp. It is NOT FDA-approved for use on facial hair or any other part of the body.

The manufacturer's product insert states:

"The minoxidil solution should be applied once daily to cleansed, dry skin of the scalp. It should not be applied to other parts of the body or to broken or irritated skin."

I would recommend to follow the manufacturer's instructions to apply Minoxidil to clean, dry skin on the scalp. There is no evidence that it is absorbed into facial hair or any other part of the body.

When to wash your face after applying Minoxidil on your beard?

Minoxidil is applied directly to your skin on the face. Your beard must first be washed and dried after applying minoxidil. Moisturizer or balm may be applied after washing the face.

It is best to wash the beard with warm (not hot) water. So wash your beard with warm water and a wash cloth and then rinse with cold water.

After the beard is washed, you need to apply the minoxidil to it. Do not rub it in, instead, massage it gently with the brush roller. That way, you will coat each hair follicle with the minoxidil.

After you have applied the minoxidil, wash your hands thoroughly.
