Today we'll be reviewing the Parker 98R Ultra Heavy Weight Long Handle Double Edge Safety Razor & 5 Blades.
In this review, we made things as simple as possible for you to form your opinion.
The original Parker safety razors are legendary. They're known as having one of the longest handles of any safety razor ever made, and one of the best handles made today. Even though one can argue about the original Parker safety razors being the best that still holds up today, one cannot deny the original Parker razors are classic and come highly recommended.
However, now Parker makes a line of safety razors called the 98R. The Parker 98R safety razors come very highly recommended by the razor community and gents around the world swear by the 98R.
Heavy weight in the razor handle allows for a super smooth shave and super control with this heavy weight razor for those that can handle. The razor has a brass body and is weighty, which means you'll generally say a heavier razor generally produces a smoother shave even though the weight of the "razor" of a razor is another debated subject.
Now we have the question, how does a safety razor shave better than a multi-blade, multi-angle, bluey-greeny cutter? The answer is simple, the more blades the more blades the higher chances the razor may create a nick or cut. Now a safety razor will generally cut the hairs on your face better than a multi-blade or multi-blade razor for that matter. The weight of the razor helps to guide the hairs in the direction of the razor which helps guide hairs in the direction of the safety bar which will eventually cut the hairs it takes for that very first shave to come off that way. A multi-blade razor will cut a little hair off and then cut another and then cut another and so on using its multiple blades, and that's generally where you'll get the problem, a nick or cut to begin with. The weight of the razor will produce the smooth and close shave. A safety razor will only cut the first time which allows the skin to heal and create a new layer of skin to the area that was previously nicked.
